It is a fun little town and you might enjoy stopping there.A few years ago, I went up to Jackson, Wyoming for an awesome winter weekend at the Triangle X Ranch just outside of Teton National Park. Off the route in Idaho and better for young kids is Lava Hot Springs. It is a bit of a drive west though, not a quick stop.Īnother place not a quick stop but interesting to history buffs is the Golden Spike Monument where the country was joined in 1869 by railroads. If you want to take a look at the Great Salt Lake going out to the Antelope Island State Park just west of Layton/Syracuse would be a nice place to visit. Lots of hotel options there and it is a little closer to SLC. On your way up another place you could stop is Pocatello. But there are a few.īluewater Resort and the Inn at Harbor Village look like the nicest. None of them are very large and there are not many hotels. (No light, just all the raspberry shake ads) At Garden City you could have turned west to head to Logan Canyon. If you came down the west side of Bear Lake you would have passed through Paris and Fish Haven Idaho and Garden City Utah. Garden City is the heart of Bear Lake life.
